EC works to to preserve and enhance the quality of the natural environment; conserve Canada’s renewable resources; conserve and protect Canada’s water resources; forecast weather and environmental change; enforce rules relating to boundary waters; and coordinate environmental policies and programs for the federal government.
Land-use Framework
The Land-use Framework is a comprehensive approach to planning to better manage public and private lands and natural resources to achieve Alberta’s long-term economic, environmental and social goals. The framework provides a blueprint for land-use management and decision-making that addresses the growth that has occurred in Alberta over the past several years.
North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA)
The North American Wetlands Conservation Act of 1989 provides matching grants to organizations and individuals who have developed partnerships to carry out wetlands conservation projects in the US, Canada and Mexico for the benefit of wetlands-associated migratory birds and other wildlife.
North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP)
The North American Waterfowl Management Plan is an international action plan to conserve migratory birds throughout the continent.
