Job Opportunity: AB NAWMP Coordinator

The Alberta North American Waterfowl Management Plan (AB NAWMP) partnership is searching for an experienced, collaborative and results driven coordinator for Alberta.

In the role of AB NAWMP Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating and achieving projects and managing the corresponding budget set out in the annual work plan. The Alberta NAWMP partnership conserves and protects Alberta’s wetland resources and associated upland habitats. With the support, resources, knowledge base and experience of its partners, Alberta NAWMP employs a unique and successful approach to wetland and waterfowl conservation.

Leading the planning, delivery, evaluation and reporting under direction from the Board of Directors of wetland focused policies and communications, you will network and collaborate with wetland professionals, engaged citizens and scientists.

writing, receiving, supporting and reporting on annual grants (Alberta Environment and Parks; Environment & Climate Change Canada), preparing, managing and monitoring annual work plans and budget in conjunction with the Management Committee.

AS COORDINATOR YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • providing administrative support to Board of Directors and Committees including agenda development, minutes and meeting arrangements. Lead communication, science and policy support projects including contractor oversight.
  • managing the Alberta database for the National Tracking System to ensure Alberta’s information is incorporated into nation reports under NAWMP.
  • providing support to regional, national and international NAWMP partners such as Prairie Habitat Joint Venture.

About the Work Environment

In this role, you will be working primarily in an office setting and will have frequent contact with NAWMP partners across Alberta, in addition to provincial and federal government departments and external stakeholders. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

This role requires strong project management skills. Knowledge of wetland ecosystems, waterfowl management and relationship/networking skills are an asset. You will have the ability to work collaboratively in individual and group settings. You must be self-motivated and have initiative to meet project deliverables on time and within budget.
